Broadland Brass has a long history as a village band supporting local events in the region. Formed in the 1930s under the name of the “Blofield & District Silver Band”, the band has undergone several changes. A junior section was formed in the 1980s when both the main and junior bands became known as “South Broadland Brass” and band practice moved to Freethorpe School. In 2005 we moved again to a new base at the British Sugar Social Club at Cantley Sugar Factory.

The Band provides opportunities for children and adults residing in the area to play a brass musical instrument and to experience playing together with others in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The band also provides a community service of musical accompaniment and entertainment for local celebrations, functions, schools, church services, festivals and special events.
A lottery grant in the 1990s provided funds for the purchase of a range of excellent brass instruments. These are available for members to borrow and play in either the training or main band. If you played an instrument in the past and would like to take it up again then we may have an instrument for you to borrow if you do not have your own. If you are just learning to play an instrument and would like the opportunity to play with others of a similar level then why not come along to the training band evening, every Wednesday in school term time. You can try out different brass instruments to find one that suits you the best.
You are most welcome to come along on a Wednesday evening during school term time just to meet with us, try an instrument or sample a band practice. Looking forward to seeing, and hearing, you!!
